Masdar are planning to build cool cities in UAE. They are focus on reducing emission from these mean sources of CO2 emission, which are produced from building and transportation by 90%. This city is 1km in radius which contains business, residential, commercial, culture and resort zone. In addition to the solar powered plants farms. They are planning to use environmental technology such as water, wind and surrounding the city. The transportation will be focuses on light rail, solar ships, water transportation and hybrid cars. Echo towers would reduce the 50% and residents would reduce 30% of CO2 in the air.
Bradley Hope of National Newspaper mentions the average temperature rise up to 50C and the humidity 97%, because of that building cool city in the UAE it’s very helpful to reduce carbon emission. In addition, the new Abu Dhabi Central Market will have an operable roof that responds to the temperature (Bradley, 2008). Still, developers need to be wary of too many technological solutions, which can reduce the energy efficiency of a building, said Alan Paterson, Aldar’s head of planning. Air conditioning is inherently a wasteful way to cool a space, but cool water misters are not particularly efficient either, especially in a desert environment where water is scarce. (Bradley, 2008).
To conclude, I think building a cool city is a good solution to reduce the pollution in the earth. This city will cost a lot to build it and it consumes time and materials. I hope this city will be build soon to save our earth.
